What actions trigger notifications?

There are a handful of event actions that will trigger an email notification by default. These actions are:

Someone creates a new main board post
Someone replies to a board post you created
Someone mentions you in either Chat or a Board reply
A new resource is added by the organizer
The organizer sends an announcement (see note below)

|| * Organizer Announcements are currently ONLY sent via email, and are often used for last-minute or vitally important event updates. Consider leaving this notification setting set to "on"

Changing How You Receive Notifications

To edit notification setting for a single event, or globally, simply navigate to "Notification Settings" in the upper right menu of your board:

Here, you'll find a menu of the different notification types and an option to toggle each of them on/off. If you have the Guestboard native app installed, you can also control your push notification settings here in the right column.

These setting changes are specific to the event you're viewing, offering flexibility between important and not-so-important events. However, if you'd like to apply your chosen settings to all current and future events, simply select the checkbox next to "_Apply

Q: How Do I Edit My Event Widgets?

Why is there no password?

As of October 2019, Guestboard now uses passwordless authentication for both registration and logging in. This is growing security trend and widely considered even more secure than traditional passwords. Here is a good explanation on the benefits and growing popularity of passwordless authentication.

If you created an account prior to 10/19, and wish to continue using a pre-existing password, you can click the text link that says Have an Existing Password? to reveal a password field and enter it there. Of course, you may also choose to send yourself a magic login link if you wish.

Requesting a Magic Link

If you have already registered and are trying to log in on a new device or browser, you'll see the login screen asking for the email address that is registered with your account. After entering your email, simply click Send Me a Login Link.

This will quickly trigger a Magic Authentication Link email to be sent to that address, securely confirming your credentials.

After clicking the secure link in the email, you will be instantly redirected successfully to your Guestboard, and _will not need to re-authenticate in the near future on that devic

Guestboard is an intuitive and modular platform for managing group events! 🎉 Our mission is to make events easier for organizers to plan and communicate with their attendees, as well as creating an engaging space for guests to stay connected and informed.

Is Guestboard right for my event?

Guestboard is a flexible and scalable platform, and can be used to streamline a wide range of both personal and professional events. It's best-suited for events that require a little more than "just showing up".

_What does that mean? _

Well, for certain events like a simple birthday party, backyard BBQ, or happy hour, your guests probably only need the date/time/place. (And Guestboard's clear and legible invitation emails certainly show those).

But where Guestboard shines is for events that involve collaboration, communication, and other moving parts. If you're spending time sending email announcements, sharing ad-hoc links and documents, or manually answering the same repeated questions from attendees.. we can help. Multi-day event with lots of schedule items? Oh yea, that's all us.

Joining a Guestboard Event as a Guest – It's Easy!

1. Accept the invitation

There are only a couple ways you can be invited to an event on Guestboard– an email, or a direct link (which can also be sent via SMS). Check out which section below applies to you, and continue on.

"I received an email invitation!" ✉️

In your email, you'll see 3 clear RSVP responses (this helps the organizer know who's coming, but you knew that). Simply choose your RSVP response and you'll be directed to the welcome screen to join the event.

"I have an invite link!" 🔗

The invite link leads to the same place that the email invitation does, but with the added step up front to select your RSVP response. They're one in the same!

2. The Welcome Screen

If youve clicked from an invite link or an invitation email, you'll see a beautiful splash "welcome" screen right before you enter the event. You'll know you're in the right place because you will see the event title, details, and a short welcome description from the organizer. In order to join the board, you'll simply need to enter your name and email address (no password needed!), so that you can take advantage of all the interactive benefits of Guestboard.

Making a Guest an Admin

Planning a big event often requires more hands on deck. Event admins have the following privileges:

Invite/remove guests
Edit event details
Moderate Board Threads & Comments
Add/Delete Shared Resources
Add/Edit Schedule Items

To make someone an admin, they must already be a guest of the event. Then under Guest List, you'll find the "•••" icon at the far right of each row.

Here, you can select Make Admin. When that user refreshes their page or opens up their Guestboard in the future, they will now see the admin controls and can begin contributing.
